Principal among these is Allison Cook
Allison is a stunning mezzo soprano of international repute, whose favourite job is always to be an Opera Dudette
Allison was born in Scotland and studied at the RSAMD graduating in 1998 with a BMus and MMus (Advanced Opera). She was a member of the opera studios in Paris and Strasbourg, where she debuted at the Opéra du Rhin, Strasbourg, as Composer Ariadne auf Naxos and was awarded the Prix de L’AROP from Opera National de Paris in 1999.
Allison was then contracted to sing in Aix-en-Provence and Vienna Festwochen festivals with Marc Minkowski L’Incoronazione di Poppea which led to her being invited back to Aix for the world premiere of Peter Eotvos’s Le Balcon in 2002.
Her most significant engagements in England were as Carmen and Orlofsky Die Fledermaus with Glyndebourne on Tour, at the BBC Proms and at the ROH where she made her debut in 2005 as Babette in Babette’s Feast. She has also sung with British Youth Opera, the Buxton Festival and has been a guest of many international opera houses including Paris, Amsterdam, Toulouse, Nancy and at the Savonlinna, working with, amongst others, Marc Minkowski, Armin Jordan, Louis langray, Peter Eotvos, and James Conlon. Most recently she sang Kate Julian Owen Wingrave for ROH, Flora La Traviata for Opéra de Lille and Baba the Turk / Mother Goose The Rake’s Progress in Portugal.
