Tim and I work for three different charities providing music and drama workshops in the community.
On Tuesdays we work for a wonderful organisation called Streetwise Opera. Streetwise Opera is an award-winning charity that uses music to help homeless people make positive changes in their lives.
This Tuesday we were running our first workshop at Elizabeth House in Nottingham run by Framework. It provides high quality accommodation and support for single homeless people.
We arrived at 12 midday and finished at 2pm and had the most fantastic time working with eight residents and one of the staff. Everyone was a little nervous at first but we soon had them engaging in the singing and drama activities. We were working on the Opera Carmen and introduced them to the famous rousing baritone aria Toreador.
One of the residents sang a rap song that he had written about his life living on the streets. It was a very emotional moment to hear his own story in song, It makes you realise how lucky we are!!
We will be there again this coming Tuesday. Tim and I are looking forward to working with these guys again.
